Yesterday, right on October 20, there was quite a shocking news coming from one of the cities in Indonesia – Aceh. How not, the Governor of Aceh named Nova Iriansyah asked the Kominfo to block a number of popular games in Indonesia.
The Governor asked the Ministry of Communication and Information of the Republic of Indonesia to block various games such as Mobile Legends, Free Fire to PUBG Mobile.
Gives Negative Effect
Furthermore, the Head of the Secretariat of the Aceh Ulama Consultative Council (MPU), Murni, said that this was stated in the Fatwa of the Aceh MPU Number 1 of 2016 concerning online gambling and in accordance with Aceh Qanun Number 6 of 2014 concerning the Jinayat Law.
In addition, based on Article 125 of Law Number 11 of 2006 concerning the Government of Aceh and the Regulation of the Minister of Communication and Information Technology Number 19 of 2014 concerning Handling Internet Sites with Negative Content, the Acehnese community and government institutions can submit reports for blocking of negatively charged content.
Haven’t Received Kominfo’s Answer
“So for the implementation of Islamic Sharia as a whole, as well as controlling and blocking negative content in Aceh, we request that the Minister is pleased to request all Telecommunication and Internet Service Providers in Aceh to block PUBG games and online gambling games as a follow-up to the implementation of Regulations and Fatwas. Aceh Ulama Consultative Council,” – Murni.
If this is really going to happen, of course, Mobile Legends, Free Fire and PUBG Mobile players in Aceh will not be able to play the game again. Not only that, various organizations such as the Esports team based in Aceh are likely to move to other cities.
