Gradual ND for landscape photos – ipadguides





There is only one filter required for landscape photos, gradual ND. What for? Take a look at the photo below.

Over exposed to the sun, because my camera meter is pointed at the wall
The solution is to use this filter, the dark color at the top of the filter lowers 3 stops of light. So if we use 1/100 speed, the dark part is the same as we use 1/400
There we go!
This is an example of a landscape photo that uses a GND filter. Without a filter, the top part of the photo will be completely blown out.

That’s it! Hopefully enlightening. Some prefer to use the HDR technique, but I don’t really like it because it’s a hassle and has to be post-processed again.
