You’ve probably seen screenshots before but have never saved them. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to take a screenshot on macOS Mojave and save it as a JPEG file.
You can use the keyboard shortcut Command + Shift + 3 to capture a screen shot in Mac OS X. To save the image, choose File > Save As… and select JPEG from the Format dropdown menu.

If you’re using an older version of Mac OS X, you might need to hold down the Control key while pressing the Option key to access the File menu.
Select “Save Image” from File Menu
Once you’ve taken a screenshot, you can use any image editor to edit it. We recommend Pixelmator because it’s free and has lots of features.
Choose “JPEG” from the Format dropdown menu
Open up Pixelmator and choose File > Export Image… From the export options, select JPEG format. Then click OK.
Name the image and click Save
Now you can share the image with anyone by emailing it directly from the Finder.
