This DANCE is performed by some beautiful virgins from the island of Tomia, one of the big islands in Wakatobi, to welcome the men who have just returned from overseas. Here the men will be invited to dance, and they have the opportunity to determine their future wife.
Starting with a gentle valley movement, then along with the rhythm will form a swallow formation during migration. Then came two male birds who would circle the mborira dancing girls, choosing one of the girls to be his future wife.
This dance is based on the story of the swallow that migrated along with the changing of the east and west seasons, which usually coincided with the nomads who returned from the Malay lands in ancient times.
