My experience traveling to Cameron Highland

One of the reasons I want vacation to Cameron Highland is to escape from the daily routine. I have been working in hostels for almost 2 months, it feels like I need a short break.

I’m also bored every time day off just a walk in the city, that’s why I decided to take a trip to Cameron Highland. Yes, the count can be a breath of fresh air.

I can only day off 1 day a week. After finishing the shift at 4 pm, I immediately rushed to Terminal Bersepadu Selatan to catch the bus to Tanah Rata.

Around 8 pm, I arrived at Tanah Rata and went straight to the inn that I had previously booked via the hotel booking application. Time to rest.

The next day, I woke up early from a good night’s sleep and got ready to explore Cameron Highland. Luckily the sky is clear, the air is also cool and fresh.

Visit to BOH Tea Plantation

Today I just want to relax in the tea garden, even though I’m a person who likes it trekking but yes, sometimes I want to sit back and enjoy the beauty of nature.

From the lodge, I headed to the bus terminal to catch a bus to BOH Tea Plantation which is the largest tea plantation in Cameron Highland.

The bus stops at a fork. I have to walk in again about 4 km or an hour to get to BOH Tea Plantation. Got there, I ordered cheesecake and tea to accompany me to enjoy the view of the green tea garden.

Cameron Highland is located at an altitude of 1,500 meters above sea level making it suitable for plantation areas. BOH Plantation (the largest and oldest tea plantation in Malaysia) was discovered by a businessman from England named JA Russell.

Currently BOH Plantation has 2 tea plantation areas, one in Sungei Palasthe other in Fairlie. The company also builds a packaging factory near the garden to maintain the freshness and quality of the tea.

First time hitchhiking

Suddenly I came up with a crazy idea. What if I go home hitchhike aka just driving someone else’s car. Because actually going back to the bus terminal is quite simple, there is only one straight way.

I finally got up the courage, I’ve never been before hitchhike get nervous and anxious. I waited by the side of the road, trying to stop a passing car.

After 20 minutes, finally a car stopped offering a ride to the main road. Because the direction was different, the kind father just stopped me at the right spot.

I continue hitchhike again, the second one only takes 5 minutes to get another car. In the car, I chatted with my aunt who happened to have a business in the surrounding area.

It turns out to be addictive too. My total hitchhike 6 times to get to my final destination which is the bus terminal in Tanah Rata. My experience traveling to Cameron Highland is getting more exciting with hitchhikinghaha.
