Russia has agreed to a ceasefire in the southeastern port city of Mariupol to allow civilians to escape. It is estimated that there are more than 160,000 people trapped in the city which has been under siege by Vladimir Putin’s forces since the start of the February 24 invasion. The truce came as the Prime Minister announced Britain could send armored cars to help evacuate trapped civilians. as he “gets into gear” to support Ukraine. He told the Commons liaison committee: “The question is, can we help Ukraine free Mariupol?” [armoured personnel carriers] useful for them [or] Armored Land Rover? We certainly saw that.”
