Jakarta –
February 15, 2022 is observed as World Children’s Cancer Day. Today, we need to understand again about cancer which can also attack children, Mother.
The World Health Organization (WHO) explains, cancer is the leading cause of death for children and adolescents. The chances of a child surviving cancer depend on where the child lives.
“In high-income countries, more than 80 percent of children with cancer are cured, but in many lower-middle income countries, less than 30 percent are cured,” the WHO said on its website.
The causes of low survival in lower-middle-income countries are delay in diagnosis, inability to obtain an accurate diagnosis, difficulty in accessing therapy, treatment neglect, death from toxicity (side effects), and avoidable relapse.

Causes of childhood cancer
WHO explains, cancer can be experienced at any age and can affect the body. This condition begins with a genetic change in a single cell, which then grows into a mass (or tumor), then invades other parts of the body and causes damage and death if left untreated.
“Unlike cancers in adults, most cancers in children have no known cause. Many studies have attempted to identify the causes of cancer in children, but very few are caused by environmental or lifestyle factors,” the WHO said.
